How much money could I save?
The all important question, according to the Energy Saving Trust,
“There are no set or minimum tariffs for the SEG – the only requirement is that the tariff must be greater than zero at all times. In practice, this means that it is up to energy suppliers to decide what tariffs to offer their customers. They may choose to offer multiple tariffs or just one.” Want to know more? Octopus Energy offers a few services that can help you save money with green energy. For example, their Outgoing Octopus scheme where you can get paid for the electricity you export back to the grid. You might also be interested in the Agile Octopus scheme where you shift energy use outside the 4pm-7pm peak time to save money. Great for overnight vehicle charging!
Energy Saving Trust
Wind
Smart Export Guarantee is the new support mechanism designed to ensure small-scale generators are paid for the renewable electricity they export to the National Grid. It has been in place since 1st January 2020 . Wind turbines are eligible technologies for this scheme .

Solar
Smart Export Guarantee is also an option for small-scale solar energy generators, ensuring you get paid for the renewable electricity you export to the National Grid. It has been in place since 1st January 2020 . Solar PV panels are eligible technologies for this scheme .

Ground Source Heat
The Renewable Heat Incentive was set up by the UK Government with the aim of encouraging the uptake of renewable heat technologies amongst households, communities and businesses. Those who install, or already have installed one of several technologies on their list are eligible to receive quarterly cash payments over several years. Interested? Hydro
